April 28, 2010
An earth day event was held at Clear Creek State Park on April 28,
2010 sponsored by North Central Math/Science Collaborative & Cook Forest State Park. Representatives from Jefferson Conservation
District, Jim Berry and Missy Buck, participated in this event. They taught students about Point Source and Nonpoint Source
Pollution using the Enviroscape.
At other stations the students learned about Soil Conservation, Groundwater Flow Model,
The Riparian Forest, Reptiles/Amphibians, Soils, Groundwater Profiles - aquifers, springs, ponds, and Old Growth Eco-Systems.
Some of the schools attending included Brookville, Punxsutawney, Clarion, North Clarion, and Redbank School Districts.
The Enviroscape is a simulation of a small community. It demonstrates ways water pollution happens and how it can be prevented.
